Multi-Day Indian Wedding Photography Services

Norman Yap specializes in multi-day wedding photography for Indian and South Asian weddings, ensuring that every event on your schedule is covered. We work closely with you to plan coverage for all key ceremonies and festivities. This can include:

  • Pre-wedding events: Haldi (turmeric ceremony), Mehndi party (henna night), and Sangeet (music and dance evening). We capture the laughter, vibrant attire, and family bonding during these intimate gatherings.
  • Wedding ceremony: Whether it’s a traditional Hindu pheras around the sacred fire, a Sikh Anand Karaj in the Gurdwara, or a Nikah ceremony, we photograph the rituals with respect and an eye for detail. Moments like the exchange of garlands, the tying of the mangalsutra, or the sindoor ceremony are documented from the best angles without disrupting the proceedings.
  • Reception and post-wedding events: From the high-energy entrances to the emotional speeches and nonstop dancing, we’ll be there to preserve the energy and joy of your reception. If you have a reception on a different day or a post-wedding celebration, we accommodate that as part of our multi-day approach.

By opting for our multi-day coverage, you ensure a consistent storytelling approach across all events.

Norman and his team come prepared for long hours and varied lighting situations, using high-end equipment to produce crisp, vibrant images whether we’re shooting a colorful outdoor haldi in midday sun or an indoor reception under dramatic lights.

We also offer the option of a second photographer for very large weddings or simultaneous events, so you never have to worry about missing a moment in two places at once.

We pride ourselves on delivering not just stunning photographs but also a seamless, friendly experience.

Many clients appreciate Norman’s calm and organized presence throughout the whirlwind of a multi-day Indian wedding. As one client noted, “Norman brings a perfect balance of professionalism and playfulness to his work. His attention to detail is amazing,” which is exactly what you need when managing several ceremonies.

Another couple remarked on how flexible and prompt Norman and his second shooter were: “He and his team were prompt, flexible, and above all else, took amazing photos… the whole experience from engagement shoot, to wedding day, to photo album, Norman provided an intimate and personal touch.”

Norman takes the time to understand the significance of each ritual in your culture. We’ll discuss your family’s particular customs, so we know, for example, when the crucial moments like the Vidaai (farewell) or the Baraat (groom’s procession) are happening, and we’ll be ready to capture the emotions of those times.

Our team’s familiarity with popular Indian wedding venues around Perth – from elegant hotel ballrooms to temple venues – means we can anticipate the logistics and lighting of each location.

Above all, we approach each day of your wedding with genuine enthusiasm and respect. Our aim is to make you and your family feel comfortable, so the smiles and expressions in the photos are truly natural.

What To Expect?

What to Expect During Your Indian Wedding Events

Planning an Indian wedding is complex, but with Norman Yap Photography, your photography will be one less worry. Before the wedding, we’ll hold detailed consultations (in person or via video) to go over your event schedule and priorities. If you have a wedding planner or family member coordinating events, we’ll coordinate with them directly to ensure timing is clear for each ritual. We’ll also visit or discuss venues in advance if possible, to plan for the best shot angles – for instance, knowing where to stand during the pheras or how to position ourselves for the bride’s entry under the phoolon ki chadar (floral canopy).

During the wedding events, you can expect our team to be punctual and fully prepared. On each day of your celebration, we arrive early to set up and stay until the main events conclude. For example:

  • On your Sangeet night, we’ll capture the performers, the spontaneous dance-offs, and the candid moments of relatives mingling.
  • On the main wedding day, we’ll document the bride’s getting ready process (the intricate sari or lehenga draping, jewelry, and makeup), as well as the groom’s preparations (tying the safa or sehra for a Baraat). We’ll cover the Baraat procession, snapping dynamic shots of the dancing and drumming as the groom arrives. During the ceremony, we remain as unobtrusive as possible around the mandap or altar, using quiet cameras and zoom lenses to get close-ups of your expressions during vows and prayers without interfering.
  • If there’s a reception on the same day or the next, we’ll capture all the highlights: your grand entrance as newlyweds, cake cutting, first dance, and the exuberant celebration on the dance floor. We are adept at using lighting to handle dim reception halls or colorful stage lights, ensuring every photo is clear and vibrant.

After the final event, our work continues behind the scenes. Norman personally curates the best images from thousands taken over the days. We then professionally edit each selected photo, delivering a balanced mix of color and black-and-white shots that highlight the emotions. Within a few weeks, you’ll receive a private online gallery of high-resolution images that you can share with family and friends across the globe. Many of our Indian wedding clients also opt for a bespoke wedding album or wall art, which we can design for you – it’s a wonderful way to commemorate a multi-day wedding extravaganza.
